Humble Hounds MN will supply the basic supplies that you need to be a successful foster. We pay Vet bills, Food, Crate, Collar, Leash....... Foster Expectations Fostering time frame . There is an initial 2 week shutdown period. This 2 week period will give you, the foster and your house pets time to adjust and relax. The foster will not be posted as available until after the 2 weeks. During this period, you have the choice of adopting or continuing fostering. After the foster is made available, you will need to submit an adoption application the same as other potential adopters. Please be responsive to emails, text messages and Facebook Foster Family Group posts . There may be several reasons we need a prompt response; some of which could be setting up vet appointments, requesting foster pet information, verifying pet availability…. Create quality posts on your social media and be sure to tag Humble Hounds MN . Social media is the main marketing tool for Humble Hounds MN. It is important to use quality photos (at dog level, not looking down at dog) and proper grammar/spelling. The posts do not need to be long, the purpose is to let people know that you have this awesome dog that is available for adoption. Last but not least, make sure to tag Humble Hounds MN in every post - humblehoundsmn.org @humblehoundsmn #humblehoundsmn people need to know where to find these great dogs. When you are fostering a dog you will have access to edit information seen on the website about your foster (please ask if you don't). Write a Bio for the dog . Transport foster dog to vet appointments
. HHMN is paying for the vetting and counting on you to help us care for the foster dogs. We do our best to find a vet that is relatively close. The vet appointments can happen fast and are very important to the health of the dog.
Transport foster dog to adoption events and available training
. Public awareness and being able to see the dogs in action, is a very important part of the adoption process. Basic training is also a very important part of fostering.
Adoption Events
. HHMN has an Adoption Events Coordinator that reaches out to different types of businesses to setup events to show off our available dogs. All of this takes a lot of work and is a very important part of finding your foster a forever home. As a foster, you are responsible for transporting your foster to the events. HHMN would like to have your foster dog at 2 events a month. If you are not able to bring the dog to an event, we need to know ASAP so we can try to help.
Training
. As an HHMN foster you are also responsible for the basic training of your foster dog. You will help us make the foster dog look good and set them up for success.
Professional Training
. Synergy Canine Consulting can offer advice for:
Proper Handling
Basic Commands
Proper Dog Etiquette (there are rules that we want to follow at events with other dogs)
Answer training questions that you may have. We want these fosters to shine!
The Synergy Canine Consulting monitors Facebook Foster Families Group.
Please keep in touch.
You will not be bothering us. We like updates to the bio, questions, concerns or any
information that could be helpful with getting the foster dog adopted.
